About this project
A Change of Pace
This project was a bit different from those we normal get involved with, but a fun ride none the less. We did not design this awesome monster of a machine. Instead we did short run production on the first 1,000 units or so. Creating the “tools” for injection molding plastic parts is time consuming and incredibly expensive. On lower volume products, sometimes it makes sense to get some early traction before diving into this investment.
We used RTV silicon molding processes to produce a finish a number of components for this piece of medical equipment. This provided invaluable hands on experience in an injection molding like process that showed the challenges of mold flow, tool release, and carefully controlled environments to affect final parts more than one may expect. Because hospitals have such strict rules for safety and cleanliness, very specific material guidelines had to be met.
We love working with awesome people on awesome projects. If you have a need at any stage of the design process, from conception to production, please reach out.
We also love tacos, coffee, and talking shop. If you want to bounce ideas off us, please also feel free to send a hello!
